Attending to the big picture: Balancing strategic visioning with daily tasks

Abstract

We university administrators face a seemingly endless stream of daily tasks. We approve budgets and timesheets. We attend and lead meetings. We read and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls. We supervise, encourage, congratulate, and mentor, and we make decisions on how to allocate funds, assign duties, and interpret policies.
