Initially, we used piperacillin-tazobactam and ceftazidime-avibactam but without satisfactory results. Finally, we administered carrimycin in combination with piperacillin-tazobactam; the patient's condition improved, and he was successfully weaned off the ventilator. Abstract

Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common multidrug-resistant bacterium encountered in clinical practice. This pathogen causes pneumonia, which is difficult to treat owing to the limited choice of antimicrobial drugs, resulting in a relatively high mortality rate. Carrimycin is a new macrolide antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial and potential immunomodulatory effects.
