Abstract

Organ Neuroprosthetics

Implantable neural interfaces can be used to (re-)establish the connection between new (transplanted or artificial) organs and the nervous system to increase the effective biointegration of these solutions. These “organ neuroprostheses” will become more and more valuable solutions in the years to come. The cover of article 2302896 by Silvestro Micera and co-workers show the possible use of nerve guidance channels to connect vagus nerve after heart transplantation.
