These trials have highlighted considerable challenges, including low response rates to drugs, limitations of current surrogate histological endpoints, and inadequacies in the design of MASH clinical trials, all of which hinder the progress of MASH pharmacotherapy. We also explored the potential of non-invasive tests to enhance clinical trial design. Furthermore, given the strong association between MASLD and cardiometabolic disorders, we advocate for an integrated approach to disease management to improve overall patient outcomes. Abstract

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a severe form of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), poses a significant threat to global health.
