We read the comments by Tasegian et al. related to our article published in Nature Immunology, entitled ‘Commensal bacteria direct selective cargo sorting to promote symbiosis’1, with keen interest. In Zhang et al.1, we reported a Nod2-LRRK2-dependent lysozyme-sorting phenomenon in Paneth cells. Tasegian et al.2 noted no change in lysozyme staining in Lrrk2−/− mice and the absence of leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) on Paneth cell granules.
