However, advances in surgical techniques, improvements in perioperative care, and the emergence of adjuncts such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation have significantly enhanced decision making and underscored the importance of timely and decisive intervention in damage control thoracic surgery to optimize patient outcomes.
