Abstract

Cover Photograph: Traditional abradable seal coatings face huge challenges for next-generation aero engines. The authors of https://doi.org/10.1111/ijac.14843 developed a novel, high temperature resistant Yb2Si2O7 seal coating with coefficient of thermal expansion compatible with SiC. The coating also has good erosion resistance with optical imagery and depth profiles shown on the cover.
