Abstract

The global population affected by Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is approximately 296 million, but few drugs have been able to completely eradicate HBV and the range of effective treatments remains limited. Recent advancements in molecular biology and artificial intelligence, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the molecular structure of HBV, have greatly aided the rational development of anti-HBV agents. Such advancements have facilitated an increasing array of candidate drugs transitioning into clinical trials, however, no novel target-based compounds have been approved for clinical application.
