Abstract

Unlike the other chapters, this is mainly an experimental study. It describes the location of all pathways descending from the brainstem to the spinal cord in cat: and for the first time correlates the termination fields arising from specific brainstem areas with the inter- and motoneuron pools of neck, axial and distal limb musculature, throughout the whole spinal cord. The findings are related to previous studies, as well as to functional aspects of the oculomotor system.
