Abstract

In this letter, we propose an optimal multiple input multiple output (MIMO) strategy for rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) with private and common messages under a zero-interference constraint in a multi-cell MIMO system environment. We compare the proposed MIMO strategy for RSMA with the minimum mean squared error-interference rejection combining (MMSE-IRC) technique used in 5G NR in terms of sum rate. Extensive evaluation results confirm the performance gain of the proposed optimal RSMA-MIMO, which is expected to provide insight into system design for 6G RSMA.

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters publishes short papers in a rapid publication cycle on advances in the state-of-the-art of wireless communications. Both theoretical contributions (including new techniques, concepts, and analyses) and practical contributions (including system experiments and prototypes, and new applications) are encouraged. This journal focuses on the physical layer and the link layer of wireless communication systems.
