Abstract

Biomarker for Kawasaki Disease Vasculopathy

Platelet hyperreactivity is the hallmark of Kawasaki disease (KD). However, the role of platelet in KD vasculopathy remains elusive. Xiaoqiong Gu, John Hwa, Wai Ho Tang, and co-workers find that the direct interaction of platelet and monocyte promotes TGF 1 release and monocyte activation, resulting in the burst of inflammatory cytokines. The study provides the potential use of monocyte-platelet aggregates as a biomarker for KD vasculopathy. More details can be found in article number 2406282.
