27-Year-Old Female Patient With Acute Visual Changes and Lower Back Pain

Abstract

Uveitis is an inflammatory eye condition that can cause eye redness, pain, and visual changes. Primary care providers need to be aware that uveitis can be a sign of systemic disease and has multiple differential diagnoses. Personal and family history of autoimmune conditions should alert the practitioner to consider a broader range of diagnoses. This case study challenge will present a case of a young woman with frequent bouts of uveitis, along with other vague symptoms and low back pain, who sought multiple providers before being given an accurate diagnosis.
