Abstract

This letter introduces Non-Orthogonal Time Frequency Space Index Modulation Multiple Access (NOTFS-IMMA), an enhanced uplink random access scheme that integrates Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) with Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) and Index Modulation Multiple Access (IMMA). In NOTFS-IMMA, users randomly select delay-Doppler resource blocks based on portions of their data, enabling grant-free access without coordination, thus improving energy efficiency. Analytical and simulation results demonstrate that NOTFS-IMMA outperforms both traditional OTFS multiple access and OTFS-IMMA in terms of bit error rate and spectral efficiency.

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters publishes short papers in a rapid publication cycle on advances in the state-of-the-art of wireless communications. Both theoretical contributions (including new techniques, concepts, and analyses) and practical contributions (including system experiments and prototypes, and new applications) are encouraged. This journal focuses on the physical layer and the link layer of wireless communication systems.
