This narrative literature review (16 studies; 2012–2024) explored patient perceptions of AI in skin cancer screening and diagnosis. Patients were generally positive and perceived AI to increase diagnostic speed and accuracy. Patients preferred AI to augment a dermatologist’s diagnosis rather than replace it. Patients were concerned that AI could lead to privacy breaches and clinicians deskilling and threaten doctor–patient relationships.
