Abstract
A series of 1-methylpyridine-2(1H)-thione (MPT) analogues were designed and synthesized as novel photocatalysts. These MPT catalysts demonstrated excellent bench stability and could be readily prepared. Various carbon-centered radicals—including benzyl, primary, secondary, and tertiary alkyl radicals—were successfully generated via a single-electron transfer mechanism. Notably, this methodology enabled late-stage functionalization of complex biomolecules such as amino acids, peptides, and pharmaceuticals. More details are discussed in the article by Tang et al. on pages 911—915.
