Abstract

Transient Perivascular Inflammation of the Carotid Artery (TIPIC) is considered an infrequent cause for unilateral neck pain. There is also much debate and controversy regarding the differentiation and the correctness of the terms TIPIC and Carotidynia. In the present review, we will try to clarify the two terms and describe the syndrome's characteristics, diagnostic techniques, differential diagnosis, and treatment options.
