Abstract
A novel mechanochemical-assisted approach converts elemental sulfur into thianthrene-bridged porous ladder polymers with dense donor-acceptor (D-A) junctions, mimicking natural leaves for efficient CO2 photoreduction with H2O, without additional photosensitizers, sacrificial agents, or cocatalysts. The key innovation is a mechanochemical nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr) reaction, enabling sustainable solid-state condensation of sulfur with 1,2-dihaloarenes to form bent thianthrene units.
