Surgical treatment of double coarctation of the aorta.

Abstract

Cases in which there are two sites of coarctation are very rare and therefore much surgical experience of this malformation has not been reported. If there is one coarctation at the level of the left subclavian artery as well as a second coarctation at the usual site distal to the left subclavian artery one must be prepared to use a graft. The aim of this paper is to report a case with double coarctation, one at the level of and one distal to the origin of the left subclavian artery in which a patch grafting procedure over both coarctations was found to be an adequate procedure
