AIDS and the health care professional: 1993 update.

Abstract

The last several years have brought vigorous debate over the rights and responsibilities of physicians and other health care professionals afflicted with acquired immune deficiency syndrome or infected with the virus that causes it. A number of significant cases have been decided, and several professional groups have rendered opinions on how to handle this volatile issue. As the crisis grows, the law continues to evolve. This article provides an overview of the case law and professional opinion as it stands in mid-1993.
