An integrated analysis of morphological, ecological, ultrastructural and molecular data indicates that the new species belongs to the <em>Chionosphaeraceae</em> within the <em>Agaricostilbales</em>. Abstract
A new genus, Cystobasidiopsis, and a new species, Cystobasidiopsis nirenbergiae, are described for a fungus isolated from an arable loess soil in Ahlum near Braunschweig, Niedersachsen, Germany.
