Evaluating the effects on families of swine flu contingency policies.

Abstract

Policies developed to cope with the influenza A (H1N1) pandemic in the winter of 2009 may have conflicted with the philosophy in child health nursing of family-centred care. This article considered the impact of policies adopted by NHS trusts. The author argues that children's nurses should always advocate for the holistic wellbeing of the children, young people and families in their care, and for a change in policy if necessary.
