Abstract

Disrespect and burnout are long-standing systemic issues causing nurses to leave the profession at an alarming rate. Human-centred design offers a fresh approach to tackling this challenge and recognizes that the journey to discover what is important to nurses is just as meaningful as the destination. Leveraging "inside/outside" expertise and individuals with advanced training in creative problem solving, nurse leaders are empowered to adopt a beginner's mindset and openly explore the challenge.
