Results confirm that the interoceptive state of stress can play the role of a contextual stimulus and initiate renewal (relapse) of an inhibited behavior when stress has previously been associated with the behavior. In conjunction with our previous work, the present results support the hypothesis that the PL is important for contexts, both exteroceptive and interoceptive, to exert such control over operant behavior.
