In 1999, when NATO bombed Yugoslavia, the then 20-year-old worked for the newspaper Koha Ditore in Pristina. His family’s house in Peja was destroyed, members of his extended family as well as friends and acquaintances murdered. His parents and siblings sought refuge in Montenegro; he himself in North Macedonia.
