Abstract

Coprophanaeus ( Megaphanaeus ) d’Olsoufieff, 1924 has four valid species: C. lancifer (Linne, 1767), C. ensifer (Germar, 1821), C. bonariensis (Gory, 1844) and C. bellicosus (Olivier, 1789). However, authors disagree about the placement of C. bellicosus . Thus, our aims were (I) to test if Megaphanaeus is a monophyletic group and (II) verify to which subgenus C. bellicosus belongs. We sequenced three mitochondrial and one nuclear marker for ten Phanaeini species: COI (672bp), COI-II (1326bp), 16S (527bp) and 28S (994bp). For fifteen species we sequenced two markers, COI (681pb) and 16S (532pb). Both matrices were analyzed under three methods of phylogenetic inference: Maximum Parsimony, Maximum Likelihood, and Bayesian Inference. Megaphanaeus is here considered monophyletic including C. bellicosus as sister-group to ( C. bonariensis ( C. lancifer + C. ensifer )). All analyses recovered the non-monophyly of both C. lancifer and C. ensifer , because of a population of C. lancifer grouped with C. ensifer specimens.

然而,作者们对C.bellicosus的位置意见不一。因此,我们的目标是(I)测试Megaphanaeus是否是一个单系群,以及(II)验证C.bellicosus属于哪个亚属。我们对10个Phanaeini物种的三个线粒体和一个核标记进行了测序:COI(672bp)、COI-II(1326bp)、16S(527bp)和28S(994bp)。我们对15个物种的两个标记COI(681pb)和16S(532pb)进行了测序。两个矩阵都是在三种系统发育推断方法下进行分析的:最大简约性、最大似然性和贝叶斯推断。Megaphanaeus在这里被认为是单系的,包括C.bellicosus作为(C.bonariensis(C.lancifer+C.ensifer))的姐妹群。所有的分析都恢复了蓝枝C.rancifer和蓝枝C.ensifer的非单系性,因为蓝枝C.lancifer种群与蓝枝C.nsifer标本分组。

期刊介绍: Insect Systematics & Evolution (ISE) publishes original papers on all aspects of systematic entomology and the evolutionary history of both extant and extinct insects and related groups. Priority is given to taxonomic revisions and phylogenetic studies employing morphological and molecular data. ISE also welcomes reviews and syntheses that can appeal to a wide community of systematic entomologists. Single species descriptions, regional checklists, and phylogenetic studies based on few taxa or single molecular markers will generally not be accepted.
