Abstract
A 78-year-old man who had phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation developed capsular block syndrome (CBS) with secondary glaucoma 18 years after surgery in the affected eye. Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) was used to diagnosis the CBS and evaluate its characteristics. The glaucoma resolved and the intraocular pressure decreased after a neodymium:YAG laser anterior capsulotomy and glaucoma drainage valve implantation. Atypical CBS that is secondary to glaucoma and cannot be diagnosed by a slitlamp examination can be diagnosed using UBM.
