It started with the very first specific environmental law of the country called “the Enhancement and Conservation of the National Environmental Quality Act, B.E. 2535 (1992).” The main rationale for the act included the large destruction of the resources and environment in Thailand in that period, the crisis of industrial pollution, the severe pollution problems caused by industrial waste, the rapid population growth, the flow of population from rural areas into large cities, the overuse of natural resources to quickly deplete forests, minerals, and fuels, the establishment of industries, and the adoption of technologies regardless of the consequences such as the degradation of environmental quality. Abstract
