Relying solely on 2D images as objectives for preclinical exercises limits the trainee's creative skills to instructions of textbooks and clinical instructions received. With advancements in digital dentistry, dental trainees should have early exposure to the three-dimensional (3D) rendering of ideal preclinical objectives.
