Abstract
During surveys in 2020 on the Lebanese western slopes of Mount Hermon, we detected Ferula biverticellata J.Thiébaut, which is new to the flora of Lebanon. The species has a distribution extending from Mount Hermon, the Golan, and the Hauran in South Syria to the Negev and Transjordan. We discuss the range of this southern Levantine element, its presence in Lebanon, and its conservation status.

Check List is a peer-reviewed online journal, devoted to publishing biodiversity data related to species’ geographic distribution. Thus, our primary mission if to fill the so-called Wallacean shortfall (Lomolino 2004) and to improve our knowledge of how life is distributed on the planet in order to better preserve it. These data are essential for studies on biogeography and provide a baseline for the conservation of biodiversity. Check List is a bimonthly peer-reviewed online journal, and will consider for publication: -distribution summaries of a supraspecific taxon in a broad geographic area (e.g., hemisphere, country, biome), as a review of the distribution of a taxon in the given area. -annotated list of species, of a given taxon in a strict geographic area, with comments and illustrations on the identifications, based on original data. -notes on the geographic distribution, reporting new records of one or more species while providing a complete overview on the known distribution of the treated taxa. -book reviews on books related to biodiversity, biogeography, niche modeling, or any associated field that uses species distribution as its primary data source. -opinions on relevant subjects for the journal’s mission and scope
