Berebut Wacana: Hilangnya Etika Komunikasi di Ruang Publik Dunia Maya

Abstract

This article starts from the phenomenon of how communication ethics seems to no longer apply in public space of cyberspace. Social media - as one of the products of digital revolution - becomes a free stage to spread anxiety, hate narratives wrapped in SARA and the legitimacy of the truth authority. By using Jürgen Habermas's critical hermeneutic analysis, this article wants to examine the phenomenon of discourse struggling, which is dominated by hate speech wrapped in religion and hoax on social media during the period 2017-2018, which on average loses communication ethics. The discourse struggling in cyberspace public space showed the existence of strong political penetration by utilizing religious symbols as "weapons" so that the consensus of mutual understanding did not occur anymore.
