Abstract
Abstract This paper aims to provide an understanding of dynamic capabilities (DC) and critical factors (CF) responsible for the development of sustainability-oriented innovation (SOI), presenting an overview of the literature through descriptive analysis and identifying dynamic capabilities and critical factors for SOIs. For that, we develop a systematic literature review. Therefore, we propose a conceptual framework that shows that SOI’s development depends on DC (absorptive, environmental, competence, the ability for innovation, resource integration, organizational, networking, and technological) and fourteen CFs. We also identify paths for further studies regarding four main streams. The framework is a state of the art representation, and its structure would be useful to promote SOIs.

EMJ is designed to provide practical, pertinent knowledge on the management of technology, technical professionals, and technical organizations. EMJ strives to provide value to the practice of engineering management and engineering managers. EMJ is an archival journal that facilitates both practitioners and university faculty in publishing useful articles. The primary focus is on articles that improve the practice of engineering management. To support the practice of engineering management, EMJ publishes papers within key engineering management content areas. EMJ Editors will continue to refine these areas to ensure they are aligned with the challenges faced by technical organizations and technical managers.
