ESPECIALIZAÇÃO PRODUTIVA E DEPENDÊNCIA TECNOLÓGICA: UMA ANÁLISE SOBRE O CASO BRASILEIRO

Abstract

The economic formation of Brazil (as a country originated from the peripheral part of the capitalist world-system) contributed to a process of late industrialization, which was characterized by a deficiency in the internal production of technology. This context, among other factors, generated the technological dependence that implied the constitution of a productive specialization focused mainly on basic and semi-manufactured goods. Thus, this paper aims to seek a better understanding regarding the relationship between the productive specialization of Brazil and the technological dependence it substantiates. For this purpose, a historical contextual analysis was made based on information obtained from bibliographic and documentary sources. Therefore, the research concluded that Brazil's structural constraints on the production of technology show the need for a joint effort by industry and the State in favor of the development of the country's ST&I area, with the objective of reducing the technological dependence of this economy, which ultimately affects its competitiveness and the performance of Brazilian external accounts.
