Abstract

Based on the Sentinel-2 high resolution remote sensing image data, we adopted the object-oriented multi-scale segmentation technology and the nearest neighbor algorithm to classify benthic materials of offshore coral reefs in Wenchang City, Danzhou City, Sanya City of Hainan Province during 2018-2020. Then, combining with the remote sensing images of Gaofen-2 satellite and field validation data we verified the accuracy of the classification results. The dataset can be used to analyze the temporal and spatial changes of benthic materials in coastal coral reefs and assess the health status of coral reefs.
