Abstract

When a high-speed train passes through some sections of the power supply line, its pantograph will inevitably be separated from the power supply line. Although the separation time is extremely short, the pantograph catenary arc (PCA) will be generated during this period. The PCA produces electromagnetic interference (EMI), which cause the potential safety hazard to the operation of high-speed trains. This paper provides an overview of the comprehensive models for high-speed trains. The models can be used to comprehensively research the transient characteristics of the EMI of high-speed trains. It provides a basis for finding the corresponding interference suppression methods, so as to improve the safety of train operation and protect the electromagnetic environment around the train. The proposed model can also be applied to other types of trains by changing some relevant parameters.
