Therefore, a deeper understanding of DWI is necessary for physicians treating patients with acute ischemic stroke. Abstract
Diffusion-weighted image (DWI) is widely used in acute care hospitals and provides diverse, valuable information about acute stroke. DWI is the gold standard for identifying the infarct core. The DWI infarct pattern is correlated with the pathogenic mechanisms underlying stroke and may predict stroke recurrence and outcome. Therefore, a deeper understanding of DWI is necessary for physicians treating patients with acute ischemic stroke.
