Abstract

Summary: Bulbine vandermerwei(Asphodelaceae), a geophyte endemic to aeolian sand deposits south-east of Worcester (Western Cape), South Africa, is described. The tubers proliferate forming dense clusters bearing ascending somewhat dorsiventrally glaucous flattened leaves. The description of this taxon forms part of an ecological research project of the Worcester Robertson region (Western Cape) by one of us (A. le Roux).
