Abstract
abstract: Kissing bugs (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) are blood-feeding ectoparasites found primarily in the tropics and subtropics of the Americas. These bugs are vectors of Trypanosomatidae to their mammalian hosts, including humans. The distribution of Triatoma spp. in the Nearctic region is still not fully known, and their relevance as possible vectors of Trypanosoma cruzi to humans and animals is of growing concern.
