Abstract
This text is part of the complete biography of the poet Raúl Gómez Jattin, written In the context of a doctoral research, oriented conceptually and methodologically by the biographical method. Poetry was a primary source, taking into account that the crossings between the biographical fables in an inductive logic allowed for the construction of the life events of the poet linked to their context. This fragment is proceeded by the origin of the Gómez Jattin family in the Colombian Caribbean cost and gives place to the following narratives about his adolescence, youth and adulthood —where he developed his poetic work— until his death at the age of 52. With the biographical writing, the research undertook the task of getting to know the poet and exalting his work at the same time, for the sake of promulgating it beyond the clichés about his madness and his drugs consumption. Childhood was a transcendental period that laid down his undisputable proneness towards poetry.
