We use an analytical framework based on path dependence theory to conduct a comparative case study of the introduction of offshore farming technology in the salmon farming industry in both coastal Norway and Tasmania, Australia. We show that similar points of departure can lead to different path transformation radicalness. In each case, the transformation outcome will depend on the unique interplay between agency and regional structural components during windows of opportunity.
