Abstract
The article depicts and analyses shipping in the Habsburg Monarchy. It is closely related to the overseas companies, one of which was Cunard Line. This shipping company was founded in the 19th century and as one of the fi rst with other shipping companies occupied an important position in emigration traffi c from the European continent.
