Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the political action in the council of Avila on the basis on the study of the first draft of the municipal minutes (1497-1500). The most important municipal offices (the regidurias) are crossed by the contradiction between the public responsibilities and the particular interest of their occupants.
