Abstract
The article studies the portraits of dervishes and the traditional scenes of the Islamic brotherhoods carried out by the orientalist painter Josep Tapiro Baro (Reus 1836 - Tangier 1913). Formal language and its iconography are analyzed in relation to the photographs of human types and Moroccan customs taken in Tangier in the last third of the 19th century and the first years of the 20th century.
