Current data suggest that periodontitis may promote the onset or acceleration of MetS. The overall oxidative load and overactive inflammatory repercussions could be responsible for this interaction. As a result, it is crucial to comprehend the current condition of the association as well as the prospective contribution of periodontitis to MetS. The findings of published studies that provide consistent data on the varied outcomes of periodontitis on MetS are encapsulated in this review. The journal is currently being published as "Gülhane Tıp Dergisi" ("Gulhane Medical Journal") since the September 1998 issue.
