It is important for school administrators, school nurses, teachers, and the multidisciplinary medical team to have knowledge regarding SB and subsequent limitations of SB to ensure that all children receive the proper care and education (KennedyKrieger Institute, 2009). Adaptations and modifications to the learning environment will be individualized based on the child's needs. The purpose of this article is to present holistic care at the elementary, middle, and high school phases for children with SB. Abstract

Spina bifida (SB), the second most common congenital birth defect in North America, is characterized by inadequate closure of spinal canal (Lindsay, 2014).
