15 años de estudios de género y turismo en América Latina: Una radiografía del género como categoría de estudio

Abstract

More than fifteen years have now passed since the first paper about gender and tourism in Latin America. To review the more important theoretical, methodological and practical contributions a bibliometric analysis, of papers in Redalyc, Latindex y Scielo databases, is performed. Gender and tourism studies are in the introductory stage in the region, therefore some important strategies are identified to promote their development and ulterior consolidation. The more relevant areas of opportunity are to strengthen critical analysis and to build networks at regional and international levels.
