Abstract

Adamantane is an important and versatile skeleton for synthesis of a large number of cage-like energetic compounds since its high intrinsic density, symmetry, stability, and derivability. Herein, a novel cage-like energetic compound, 4,4,8,8-tetranitro-2-oxaadamantane was synthesized in an overall yield of 21.1% from easily accessible compounds through six steps.
