Abstract

Specific features of the optical properties of cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) in an external static magnetic field have been studied theoretically taking into account the magneto-optical activity. The boundary-value problem of reflection from a half-space of a planar CLC and light transmission through a finite layer of a magnetoactive CLC at normal incidence have been considered. Specific features of evolution of reflection from a half-space at a change in the magneto-optical activity parameter have been investigated. Existence of the effect of magnetically induced transmission (MIT) in a CLC with real parameters is shown. Specific features of the resonant MIT lines at different values of local optical anisotropy of a CLC have been discussed.
