One can only compliment effusively the editing of this complex volume, and the publication of this book by Darwin Press. Also, this reviewer believes it is important to maintain the original idealism surrounding the Kitab or "Constitution," indicating that Muhammad and his devotees, despite their military superiority and clear cut religious differences, were able to deal justly with many of the Yathrib Jews, which is in keeping with the Qur'anic injunction to give 'Aman" or Protection to non-Muslims (Cf, J.
