Abstract

The article describes some mathematical methods and models used to provide adequacy and reliability of the collected empirical data in social researches - local self-government sociology. The author defines reliability of the data collected through a questionnaire survey held in municipal units of the Zabaikalye Territory. Object:  to prove empirical data reliability in sociological study of municipal units with the aim of their further application. Methods or methodology of the research:  reliability analysis using Cronbach’s alpha, testing of variable values to prove a normal distribution in a form of a histogram using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Results:  The article introduces a reliable tool in the form of questionnaire to collect information concerning some processes in municipal units. Application field for the results:  the developed tool can be applied within the system of state and municipal bodies to form data basis of municipal statistics, to evaluate processes within municipal units, to estimate population attitude toward local authority, to elaborate and make effective managerial decisions.
