The Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture questionnaire was applied. Descriptive and inferential bivariate statistical analyses were performed. Results: from the perspective of nursing, none of the three hospitals presented strong dimensions for the safety culture. The philanthropic hospital obtained better evaluations in four dimensions in relation to public hospitals. The dimension with greater fragility in all hospitals was “Return of information and communication about error”.
